4 large egg yolks
1 package unflavored gelatin
1-1/2 cups heavy cream

MAPLE ITALIAN BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
10 oz maple syrup - B recommended
9 egg whites
3 cups (6 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup (2 sticks) shortening

VANILLA CAKE
1-3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon table salt
12 tablespoons unsalted butter (1-1/2 sticks) softened but still cool
